Print | PDFIn December 2025, CRRC sponsored ArcticNet’s Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) 2025. This conference was held at the Calgary Telus Convention Centre. Throughout the conference, a CRRC booth was staffed by our student members, who spoke with attendees about CRRC’s work and mission. The CRRC also had a strong presence at ArcticNet, with members delivering 11 oral presentations and presenting 23 posters.
ArcticNet ASM featured a screening of the documentary on the Scotty Creek Research Community, followed by an engaging open discussion on the future of the research station. This documentary was produced by local Indigenous communities in the Decho region, Northwest Territories. The film highlighted the origins and activities of the research station, the out-of-season wildfire that destroyed it, and how communities came together to rebuild this first Indigenous-led research station in Canada.
Dr. Homa Kheyrollah Pour, director of CRRC, also received the 2025 Northern Science Award and Centenary Medal from Polar Knowledge Canada. She was selected for this prestigious award for her outstanding scientific leadership and community partnerships in Canada’s Arctic.
